George joined Bank of Cyprus in late 2017 to support the Bank in its efforts of digitalization and stepped into being the Chief Information Officer in September 2019.  In this role, he is responsible for managing the Information Technology, Change Delivery and Digital Transformation functions.  He is tasked with transforming the Information Technology function based on a next generation operating model, defining and delivering the Digital Transformation roadmap for the Bank and delivering change through process optimisation, re-organisation and automation.

Before joining the Bank of Cyprus and since 2000, George held several positions in KPMG in the USA and Switzerland before joining KPMG Cyprus and establishing and leading the Management Consulting function where he has managed and delivered transformational engagements for clients in different countries and industry sectors with a focus on Banking, Government and Telecommunications.

George is an active member of the professional services industry and in general the economy by serving as a member of the board of various professional associations or by initiating and leading national level initiatives.  He has been a member of the boards of the Cyprus Management Consultants Association, the Cyprus Information Technology Enterprises Association, the ISACA Cyprus Chapter (co-founder), the Advisory Board of the European University of Cyprus, the University of Nicosia Research Foundation and the National Blockchain Committee.

George has led the design and definition of a common national scheme for the use of digital signatures and eIDs between the public and private sectors and has also worked with key stakeholders to develop a national mobile payments scheme /solution.

He holds a BSc and an MSc degree in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana State University USA. He is a PRINCE2 Certified Practitioner and Certified Information System Auditor.  He is also Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT.
