Tree-planting activities for the two years of SupportCY
December 2022
One hundred and eighty trees - as many as SupportCY's members and partnered organisations and state agencies - were planted at Lourka Forest in Geri - part of the activities for the year 2022, which Bank of Cyprus named the 'SupportCY Year of the Environment'.
The decision to plant the trees had been announced last spring during an event marking the two-year anniversary of the SupportCY network. It was a show of gratitude to the businesses and organisations participating in the network, and aimed at increasing actions to protect the environment.
The location for the tree-planting was designated by the Department of Forests, partnered up with Bank of Cyprus and SupportCY, which will tend to the trees over the next three years.
Attending the tree-planting were representatives of SupportCY members, representatives of partnered state services, and the mayor of Geri. Also present at the event were the Bank of Cyprus team of volunteers, known as 'We Care for the Environment', and the SupportCY volunteers.
