Bank of Cyprus, through SupportCY network, along with other businesses and organizations within the network, joins forces to support the Fire Service and the Department of Forests in the prevention and protection of Cyprus’s forests.

With the start of each fire season every May, an informational campaign begins across social media and mass media to raise awareness about forest protection. Prevention is the most important factor in protecting our forests, as official statistics from the Department of Forests show that over the past 20 years, the causes of 84% of the fires we know about are human-made. Of these, 33% are deliberate, and 67% are due to negligence.

Members of the SupportCY Volunteers Corps, equipped with professional training and equipment, support government services and respond to every call. They also conduct daily patrols in various areas of Cyprus, observing and identifying small fire outbreaks that are dealt with in a timely manner, always under the guidance of the Cyprus Fire Service and the Department of Forests.
