SupportCY, which was created as part of Bank of Cyprus Corporate Responsibility, is taking the next step to create its own home to accommodate functions related to its mission, at the same time becoming a reference point for its events.

 

The inauguration of SupportCY House—the space that will accommodate the functions of the dynamic social network created as part of Bank of Cyprus Corporate Responsibility—took place on Wednesday 15 December, in one of the capital's most central locations. Located at the beginning of Ledra and Onasagorou Streets, SupportCY House will be used by more than 130 members, organisations, businesses, NGOs, and educational institutions for events, trainings, press conferences, and any other purpose, always in line with its mission.

 

SupportCY House is also equipped with the necessary technology to facilitate its members as well as the public.

 

During the inauguration, in the presence of the Commissioner for the Citizen on behalf of the President of the Republic and of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Director General of the Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance, and the Minister of Health, the CEO of the Bank of Cyprus, Panicos Nikolaou, described SupportCY House as a benchmark that will remind us that, in difficult times our people unite, become one and survive, saying that "SupportCY House is the heart of the largest joint investment of social capital in Cyprus. A partnership that aims to reduce social inequalities through continuous action and targeted actions." As he commented, "at Bank of Cyprus we are proud of SupportCY's contribution, not only because it creates socio-economic capital in our country, but also because it further raises awareness of social contribution to those who really need it."

 

Welcoming, in turn, the guests to the SupportCY's home, Bank of Cyprus Corporate Responsibility Manager, Elli Ioannidou, said: "We would like to thank all SupportCY members, who we would like to invite to join us today, but the pandemic stood in the way once again. We will continue to work together responsibly and creatively. SupportCY is here to stay!"

 

On behalf of the President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades, Commissioner of the Citizen Panagiotis Sentonas welcomed the inauguration, conveying the President's congratulations both for this social alliance created with the participation of businesses and organizations, as well as for its actions so far.

 

SupportCY was created in March 2020 as part of the Bank of Cyprus Corporate Social Responsibility, to support society at critical moments, with the primary objective of addressing the consequences of the pandemic and the direct support of government services in coping with the daily demands that have come about. Together with more than 130 businesses, non-governmental organizations, and organized groups, a unique social network has been created, by global standards, with enormous benefits for the citizens of the country. To date, more than €650,000 has been channelled into Cypriot society in products, services, and money.

 

Leroy Merlin, Kotsovolos, Delema McCANN Cyprus, FX Sounds, Arnold's Digital Printers have contributed to the creation of SupportCY House.
