Economic Research Manager (Ref. 733)

We are hiring a Economic Research Manager who will drive our house view and understanding of global and local macroeconomic trends. This a critical role which will underpin management and strategic decision making, financial forecasts and risk management procedures.

We are seeking a thought leader who can drive the conversation internally but also act as a key player in the wider conversation within the industry.

    • Monitor and analyse macroeconomic developments in the Cypriot, European and global economy, including banking, insurance and real estate sectors.
    • Draft relevant reports, memos and presentations for the timely update of Management on macroeconomic risks, trends and opportunities.
    • Prepare economic indicators for their integration into the definition and monitoring of credit policy and credit risk analysis of the Group's loan portfolio.
    • Conduct medium and long-term forecasts of the Cypriot economy in the context of the operational needs of the Group and the application of IFRS-9, definition of operational objectives and the calculation of regulatory requirements.
    • Supervise and drive the analysis of the wider risks of the Cypriot economy which will feed into Management decision making and the Group's risk management procedures.
    • Participate and provide economic research support to wider Group projects.
    • Serve as a spokesperson for the Group on economic matters both internally and externally.
    • Master’s degree or PhD in areas related to Economics, Finance or other related field.
    • Publications in economic journals would be a bonus.
    • Relevant experience as an economist in a financial institution, central bank, think tank, academic institution or similar organisation.
    • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to convey complex economic factors in an intuitive way.
    • Ability to deliver multiple projects under pressure and within short deadlines.
    • Ability to take initiative and make decisions.
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Office.
